Delete the Seats

Commuter cars are too wide.
Narrow the cars so more can go by.
Delete the Seats.

Side by side seating in cars is the worst mistake in industrial design.  If passenger seats in a car were behind and not beside the driver, lanes could be divided in two and twice as many people could go through without widening roads.

Almost all trips have only one passenger – the driver.  For commuting, cars without passenger sides give drivers what they want more than anything else – an efficient way to get to and from work.

ü Mission

o  Now that “We the People” loaned the car companies billions of dollars, we must insist on the intelligent design of cars that work on the roads we are driving.

ü Safety

o  Each car tested and held to the strictest safety standards available.

o  Narrow cars give emergency vehicles a way to get through traffic that vehicles with passenger sides can’t get through.

o  Cars with passenger sides block traffic.  Hundreds and thousands of lives could be lost due to people driving empty passenger sides of cars during an evacuation.  The transfer of the highway system from waste to efficiency could save lives as well as time and money.

ü Win Win Win Win

o  Drivers get to where they want to go faster at much cheaper cost and can avoid bad spots in the road with ease.

o  Car makers produce a product with actual added value – real-time improvement in commute times.

o  Governments save money on widening roads and bridges.

o  Environment improves with less fossil fuel usage while saving open space.

ü Generals and Escalators

o  A WWII general ordered the bombing of a bridge because trucks couldn't get under it.  A private suggested letting air out of the tires, and the truck made it through without blowing up the bridge.

We don't have to blow up the environment for unnecessary road widening.

o  Have you ever been behind two people standing side by side on an escalator and wanted to go through?  If one person went behind the other person then traffic would get through.

Perhaps we can resolve the crazy traffic situation with this basic principle.

ü Why would smart, beautiful women ride in them?

o  Won’t have to worry about being late to the concert

o  Won’t have to worry about parking at the game

o  Won’t have to worry about getting wet, too cold, or too hot on the way to the work
